Crafting a referral program that causes a reaction from your laziest customers may seem like a hard feat. But when a customer is engaged, no matter how lazy they may look, can end up being a company’s biggest advocate. How do you accomplish gaining customer reactions for your next referral program? We put together our top 5 tips on how to get customers reacting:
1) Keep it Engaging
Keep your message ever changing. Yes this seems like a lot of work, but in order to get customers’ attention, you have to mix it up. Create call to actions within your email marketing content that encourages them to engage and that appeals to their interests. Segmenting your emails into groups based on interests is a great approach to hone in on a specific offer to create reactions.
2) Make it Cool
Emphasize the fact that your offer is new and they are taking part in something exciting. Design your program with cool and progressive imagery, concise verbiage that is enticing and encourages users to share.
3) Keeps their Attention
Fact is, in today’s environment it is harder than ever to get a customer’s attention. It’s even harder to keep their attention. Give something they want so it keeps their attention. Offering your loyal and or laziest of customers an incentive that is sexy, highly desirable is bound to keep their attention. If you are giving away a 4-day cruise to the Bahamas, how can someone resist the temptation of that deal!
Theming out contests or competitions creates a fun vibe that most of the time customers want to get involved with. Creating the experience so they can envision themselves in that position is vital. Interacting back with customers that share your offer is also key, so they know there is a human element behind your campaign that is actually truthful in the promising the offer you are putting out there.
Don’t make your customers or prospects jump through hoops. We’ve all done those 3 part surveys to be entered in for a chance to win a shopping spree or all expense paid trip. It is just such a nuisance and a lengthy process. Make it easy for your customers, by simply getting their email, send them a follow up, that allows them to opt in and share on Facebook. A one step process is ideal to implement with customers.
